Talk to us about the people you need to hire

Call, text or email. Tell us the trade, the role, the region and what you've tried, and a senior strategist will get back to you, usually within one business day.

The fastest way to find out whether BC.Works can help you hire is a short conversation. Phone or text (604) 632-4959, or write to Ali@Sedighi.ca, whichever suits your day. Our hours are Mon–Fri 9–6 Pacific. We usually reply within one business day.

What happens next

  1. Tell us the basics

Business, city, website and the problem to solve.

  2. We review it

We look at your site and local search results first.

  3. We talk it through

A senior strategist calls you back with specifics.

How to reach us

The direct answer: whichever of the three is easiest for you. Many trades owners text from the truck; others prefer to email something they can forward to their office manager.

  • Call (604) 632-4959 when you want an answer between job sites.
  • Text the same number. A short note is enough; we'll take it from there.
  • Email Ali@Sedighi.ca if you want to attach past job ads or a list of roles.

There are no forms to fill in and no booking calendar. A person reads every message.

What to include in your first message

A few details make the first call far more useful. You don't need all of them, but the more you share, the more specific our first answer can be:

  1. Your trade and company size, for example a 15-person electrical contractor.
  2. The roles you need: apprentice, journeyperson, lead hand, estimator, and how many of each.
  3. Where: your yard and the main areas your crews work, such as the Fraser Valley or the Kootenays. Our areas page shows how we think about each region.
  4. What you've tried: job boards, referral bonuses, recruiters, social posts, and what came of them.
  5. Your timing: when you need people on site, and whether there's a busy season driving it.
  6. Certification context, if relevant: whether the roles are in one of BC's compulsory certification trades.

A sample first text or email (template)

Hi, this is [Your name] from [Company name], a [Trade] company in [City or region]. We need [Number] [Role, e.g. journeyperson] and [Number] apprentices by [Month]. Our last ad on [Channel] drew [Number] applicants. Can we talk on [Day] around [Time]? My number is [Phone].

Copy it, fill in the brackets, and send it. That's all we need to start.

What happens next

  1. We get back to you. We usually reply within one business day, and the first reply proposes a time for the call.
  2. First conversation (about 30 minutes). We ask about the roles, the region and what you've tried. You ask us anything. Eligible trades businesses get this first consultation free.
  3. A written plan. If we think we can help, we send a plan covering the message, channels, timeline, monthly fee and recommended ad spend, stated separately. If we think the problem is something marketing can't fix, we'll say so.
  4. Your decision. No pressure and no long-term contract; plans are month-to-month with 30 days' notice.
  5. Kickoff. Most engagements start with employer brand or applicant response work in the first two weeks.

Before you call: two quick numbers

If you have five minutes, work out these two figures. They make the first conversation sharper:

  • Applicants per posting over your last three ads, even if the answer is zero.
  • Days from application to first reply, honestly estimated.

If applicants are few, the fix is usually message and reach. If replies take days, the fix is response. Our hiring-funnel guide explains how to use these numbers to estimate cost per hire.

If you'd rather start small

Not ready for a plan? That's fine. Send us one job ad you're about to run, and tell us the trade and region. In the first conversation we can point out the two or three changes most likely to improve it, such as a clearer role title, a plainly stated pay range you set, or a specific line about supervision and training. You're welcome to take those suggestions and run the ad yourself.

What we won't do

So there are no surprises: we don't supply workers or represent candidates, we don't do trade work of any kind, we don't set or publish pay, and we don't give legal or compliance advice. We market your company as an employer and help you hire directly. See the FAQ for more, or the pricing page for plan costs.

Frequently asked questions

Who will I speak to?

A senior strategist, not a call centre or a junior salesperson. The first conversation is about your hiring problem, not a pitch.

Is the first conversation free?

Yes. For eligible trades businesses the first half-hour costs nothing, and you're under no obligation afterwards.

Can job seekers contact you about work?

We're not a staffing agency and don't hold job openings ourselves. If you're a tradesperson looking for work, contact the employers directly; their ads will say how.

Do I need to have numbers ready?

It helps but isn't required. Rough figures, such as how many applicants your last ad drew, are enough to start. We'll help you work out the rest.
